i've always struggled with overeating as a child. however when i got into middle school my overeating became binging because i started to lack control. ever since then, i've been steadily gaining weight. i use to just binge eat when i felt sad, depressed, scared, or anxious. but now it's become an everyday occurance.as a result my stomach is swollen everyday, and i always feel bloated. i just want it to stop. i've tried eating a normal amount but it won't work. for me it's easier to not eat at all than it is to eat smaller. so i think i'll try to fast for a month.

true true , i have the same issue and it has become a much worse addiction the more i am using it to cope with anxiety, instead of approaching the anxiety/depression in a more positive (and healthy) way. i have tried fasting too and have not been able to keep to it because i crave 'happy feelings' which has come from the foodn binge on. with the weight gain .. i'd like to point out that usually the foods that are binged on are hyper-palatable , high salt/ fat/ empty carbs and lack nutrition and fibre. i'm not sure fasting would be a steady and sustainable solution without a reeducation on food . if our dietary choices took in a lot more plant-based options (beans, lentils, chickpeas ,tofu all leafy veg , tomatoes aubergines etc) and some protein from eggs , fish for the good fats , it will enable us to eat to feel content with less calories . natural foods are not calorie-dense , and have lots of water and fibre whereas bread/biscuits/pizza/pies /processed food are packed with calories and little nutrition . they also induce cravings and body cannot burn through all those calories , and weight will accumulate . these are usually the trigger foods and binge culprits that cause the weight gain . the danger with them is because they are so convenient . easy to grab and eat eat eat without stopping . no/minimal time needed to prepare . i think swearing off these convenience foods and becoming used to preparing and eating foods made from natural ingredients is the only way to eat to content and not ingest calorific foods. we only need to look back to the 60s 70s 80s where they were much less availability of high calories, hyper-palatable convenience foods and snacks. the struggle with the waist lines started with the introduction of these foods everywhere good luck , we all have to fight the influx and bombardment of unhealthy food being so readily available .
