so i'm a younger middle aged guy who was forced to stop working by illness. i have to go to treatments very often just to stay alive and i moved back to my hometown to get support from family. most people in my position are senior citizens so i find it very hard to make friends closer to my age that can understand what i'm going through. i've tried looking for support groups and going to church but it doesn't help. other than my wife and close family i feel like i have no one i can talk to anymore. what should i do?
to answer your question i am in kidney failure and am on dialysis. i have tried some of the things you suggest but it's hard for them to relate to my situation. i feel like walking up to random people in the grocery store would just freak people out but thanks for the feedback.

i'm sorry you are going through such things. i hope you get better and find someone who understands what you're going through. it seems like you really need a true blue friend. i hope you find one or some, but if they find it hard to relate then make a point to not bring it up. sometimes its best not to spill the details and just talk about everyday life like how you spent christmas with the family instead of that one time in the hospital. also, it not that hard to talk to someone in the grocery store people are in there to buy stuff and so are you. you have a lot in common than you think. just ask for their opinion on something and go from there, but if its too awkward for you like maybe you are typing person than talking than find a pen pal from a website that lists addresses close to you or maybe someone far away sites like globalpenpals.com hope i helped. best of luck to you and hope you find a friend...sometimes talking is all you need to feel better...hope you find your one true blue friend. good luck and hope i helped.
