what is the point of relationships if they all end
my perspective is that it's sort of the same reason one might have a dog - it's for the companionship. one does it to bounce ideas off each other, to share and encourage each others' passions, for having someone to lean on when times get rough, for the moments of laughter, etc. - for the things a close companion can provide. what are your thoughts?
everything ends. it's a matter of deciding what makes anything worth doing. in the case of relationships, it fosters maturity, gives real life experience, and teaches you intimacy and trust if it goes well. they're also kind of fun while they happen suffering in relationships is only as extreme as you allow it to be. same as being single. enter into a relationship already knowing why you want one, and also what you have to offer. it won't eliminate heartbreak for the most empathetic people, but it will at least add a bittersweet element to the experience.
